Experimenting with stocking fabric in 1992, Melbourne designer Melma Hamersfeld transformed one stretchy piece of material into a concept for the international fashion brand - Metalicus. Metalicus is a fashion bodywear label with a pared down aesthetic which translates into wearable lifestyle pieces designed for layering or to be worn as simple basics. The collection of separates is distinctive due to the use of two way stretch "one size" fabrications with constantly changing on-trend styling and seasonal colour palettes. As the brand has developed, so has the product offering and today the collection includes Cotton, Wool and Bodytight.

From the Headquarters in Melbourne, Australia, Metalicus designs collections that are Australian made with universal appeal. Cotton - Cotton is one of Metalicus’ most loved fabrications. With its beautiful soft and springy feel, the Metalicus cotton blend is highly versatile, lightweight and easily layered. Bodytight - The original and still very much loved Bodytight remains at the core of fabrications at Metalicus. Made from Polymide, Bodytight is affectionately known as the ‘stretchy’ fabric thanks to its two-way stretch capabilities and its ability to mould to every body shape like a second skin. 

Seamless - In 2009 Metalicus introduced Seamless, a more durable, dense fabric that has extended the Metalicus offering to include the complete wardrobe story. Ideal for creating a more sculpted and streamlined figure, Seamless offers a more structured appearance without sacrificing on comfort.

Organics - Metalicus’ new Organics fabrication is ideal for consumers who prefer natural fibres and environmentally responsible manufacturing. Made from certified organic cotton from the US, this planet-friendly fabric has been blended with 100% recycled nylon to achieve the Metalicus stretch and dyed with pigments that have the lowest impact on the environment.
